Hope for Hemophilia is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit. Our mission is to be a conduit of hope. strength and resources to individuals and families in crisis caused by hemophilia.
"Jeanette" has three boys, two with severe hemophilia A. In addition, her two sons also have severe inhibitors causing any medication to be very ineffective. They live in a lifestyle of crisis, living in and out of the hospital regularly.
Since her husband left her, she has been without transportation. Her and her sons have been riding the city bus or paying neighbors or taxi's to take them to and from the hospital. Due to her oldest son's need for a walker and sometimes a wheelchair due to regular bleeds in his knee, normal everyday activities become incredibly difficult without access to transportation. This families situation when from bad to worse when both of her sons with hemophilia ended up in the hospital for extended periods with bleeds and infections. The strain of taking care of three children, with two fighting for their lives, in three locations, alone became nearly unbearable.
When Hope for Hemophilia heard about their circumstance, we immediately started trying to get the word out about their unique needs. One person jumped in by donating their car, several others discounted and gave services, and others donated money to help pay for the title transfer and transporting of the vehicle.
This family was in great, overwhelming need, but because of the generosity of many individuals, Hope for Hemophilia was able to be the conduit of hope, strength and resource that this family needed to get back on the road to independence.
